  1. This would obviously be a very important milestone in our life and I believe we should cherish every moment in every class of our precious time as we all work and progress all together! In addition, I would like to focus on every aspect of what we have learned and what we are going to learn in the future to completely comprehend and utilize every skill . I'm sure this is a big responsibility despite other subjects however, I will be willing to work to the core of my abilities yet I promise not to exert to my extent. There is no turning back now...........It is NOW OR NEVER!!!!

  4. This year, as I am well aware, has vital importance not only bracing us for the IGCSE's, however to taste what we will be having for numerous years to come. Through the copious list of targets I have, a few are crucial to ameliorate the quality of my work. I would like to broaden my variety of applying emotive language, such as using; metaphors, similes, personification, and adjectives. I adore English as one of my favourite subjects and hope to read more complex and challenging classical books. Furthermore, I want to study new techniques which will not only enhance my work, yet also cut down my work efficiently and create mature pieces of writing. I am looking forward to a year of improvement and working hard to achieve my goals!

    1. Instead of emotive, it is creative. Sorry for the error

    2. Actually you were right when you said 'emotive' because that is what you use to persuade people, to move them, to reach out to them and to express yoursef bringing out the desired emotion in others.

  8. As this year is the foundation stage for the IGCSEs as well as the forthcoming Checkpoints, I understand that it is a very crucial year and I'm prepared to do my best!

This year I plan to build up stronger and more efficient vocabulary as well as developing my writing skills with the use of varied language features. I will focus on being well attentive in class and practice and research at home to strengthen my skills. Most importantly I will put in my hardest efforts to complete my assignments on time while working towards making them impeccable in order to build a strong basis for all future examinations; not to mention real life situations..

    Have a great year:)

  9. I think everyone knows how crucial this year is to us, our Checkpoints and all. Up until now, my targets for each year was the same. Vocalbulary, vocabulary and more vocabulary! This year, I need something else.More than just picking up new vocabulary, I need to use them and I think I need to neccasarily work on that. Another thing I want to work on is making my work more solid and for it to have better structure, more like filling in the empty spaces on how my work is now. I personally think that's what I need, to tackle the Checkpoints and to further strengthen my foundation for the IGCSE's.

  10. This year is going to be a very crucial one. It's definitely our 'make or break' year.
With the IGCSEs coming up, I think every one of us should be getting more serious about things. My targets mainly focus upon my writing skills as I would like to improve my vocabulary and have better sentence structures.
    Good Luck to everyone.

  12. This year is going to be a very hectic year. As it’s the beginning of the year, I have already set my targets. As always, I have an urge to improve my vocabulary therefore I am working on it by reading a variety of books. I must also give immense focus on my time management and writing skills. My target by the end of the year is to achieve a 7C for my final assessment and also to get into the first language group next year. Thereby, I start this fantastic year with positive energy and confidence. I assure myself that I will successfully achieve all my targets by the end of this academic year.

  13. Year 9 is not as easy as year 8. There is a lot more to focus and work on. Every beggining year we aren't always on our best working skill we can get, but this year it's not going to be that way, i'm sure we all know how hard this year might be, but the thing is it doesnt have to be hard, we just make it that way by not studying or paying attention enough. If year 9 is hard then imagine how difficult the years ahead would be. Im glad we got a teacher like Miss Debbie, because she helps us a lot and akes us think. She makes sure we get your work done by a specific date, it may sound strict but thats how it should be, thats how we learn. I hope I succeed in my targets this year, and hope to get good marks as well. Every year I find myself always wanting to improve my self in vocabulary, sentence structure, punctuation. I always think i use too many commas. I have confidence in myself and i will work hard and achieve my goals by the end of this year.

  16. Even before this year started, I knew it was going to be hectic, not because we are going to be facing our checkpoint exams, but also because this year will be the basic foundation for our IGCSE! I have already started working on my goals and targets for this year, and hopefully I will get to achieve those targets of mine. English has always been one of my favourite subjects, due to my obsession with writing short stories. Therefore, I would love to learn various types of writings, improve my style of writing and also I would like to expand my knowledge about English as a language. I am looking forward to achieve a level 6a by the end of year 9. However hard this year may be, I promise myself to give my best in everything I do!

  18. In the words of Lorraine Moller,” What the mind can believe, you can achieve. “ I find this strikingly true. Year 9, without a doubt, will be an absolutely strenuous challenge, with both teachers and pupils working against the clock, to reinforce vital lessons and perfect students for the ever formidable Checkpoint exams. Nevertheless, I believe that if we all set our goals this year, no task will be too daunting. For English, I have set my own goals. To enhance my figurative language (similes, metaphors, etc.), To develop a wider range of vocabulary and to deal with crucial time- management. I am looking forward to reach a 7C by the end of this year, and am positive, that with hard-work and perseverance, I will be able to overcome any obstacles.
I wish everyone best of luck for their CIE’S!

  19. I understand that year 9 requires a lot of effort and hardwork. It takes perseverence and determinaion to suceed in life. I will work hard in class and try to improve my skills to the maximum before i have to face the checkpoints.I also understand that year 9 requires a whole lot more of work than any of the other previous years. I would like to wish all my fellow classmates good luck and i would also like to thank Miss Debbie in advance and for getting us where we are right now. ;)

  24. This year is for sure going to be the HARDEST yet! We've got the checkpoints which will basically evaluate how we will do in our IGCSE's. My targets for this year are to improve my sentence structures, grammar as well as raise my levels, and I will do my very best and try and work as hard as possible to achieve it.
